Buxton residents encouraged to spring clean their security

Posted on 18th April 2017

Residents in Buxton are being invited to spring clean their security at upcoming events in the town.

Officers from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood team are set to host two events at B&Q on Staden Business Park next month to help people to boost their security over the spring and summer months.

The officers will be joined by local volunteer police cadets to offer advice around home and garden security and property marking.

The team will be on hand between 9am and 5pm on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, 7 at B&Q.

Sergeant Denis Murphy from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood team said: “With the warmer weather approaching, many of us will be leaving windows and doors open to let in fresh air, or leaving garden tools out and sheds unlocked as we tend to our gardens. This provides thieves with the perfect opportunity.

“During the two events at Buxton B&Q, we will be speaking to residents about home and garden security and the steps that people can take to further protect their property from being targeted by thieves. We will also be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to seeing you all there.”
