Students in Buxton have been given advice and tips on staying safe and crime prevention all ready for the year ahead.

Officers from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined by engagement officers from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire to host a stall at the University of Derby Buxton Freshers fair.

They offered advice on how to prevent their property from being stolen, personal safety, online safety and responsible drinking.

PCSO Linda Cook, of the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “During the fair we were able to engage with many different students of all ages, to offer advice and information around all aspects of personal safety and security.

“It is important to us that we work alongside the University of Derby in Buxton to ensure that students are aware of how they can take care of themselves, their friends and their property at all times, whether on or off campus.”
