Buxton older persons day- Oct 18

Our officers in Buxton teamed up with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to host a safety and security event for Older People’s Day 2018.

The Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team held an information stand at The Springs Shopping Centre alongside officers from the fire service as part of the event on Monday, October 1.

They offered advice on personal, home and online safety and gave older residents the chance to pick up crime prevention items including purse chains and bells, and card defenders.

PCSO Rachael Blackey of the Buxton Town Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This was a great opportunity to engage with Buxton shoppers, and to particularly tailor the advice we had on offer at our stand to issues which we often find older residents face.

“Keeping our town safe, and especially helping those who may be more vulnerable is one of our key priorities and we hope that through providing information at events like these, and our regular patrols, will really help us to achieve that.”
