Police seek volunteers to put the brakes on speeding vehicles in Chapel

Posted on 23rd January 2014

Officers from Chapel and Chinley Safer Neighbourhood Team are looking for volunteers to help take action against speeding vehicles in the area.

Following residential complaints of motorists speeding on Burrfields Road and the Danesway area of Chapel, officers are taking action to highlight the importance of safe and considerate driving on the roads.

The Chapel and Chinley Safer Neighbourhood Team are looking for volunteers to help run Community Speed Watch events in the area to target those exceeding the limit.

The scheme has equipment which displays the speed of passing motorists, alerting them as to whether they are abiding by the speed limit or not.

The volunteers take down details of vehicles that are excessively speeding and the information is fed back to the local neighbourhood policing team so that warning letters are issued to anyone caught speeding in the area.

Residents in Chapel and Chinley can speak to the team about speeding and other neighbourhood concerns at the upcoming meeting which will be held on Tuesday, January 28 at Rems Bar, Market Street from 7pm.

Anyone interested in joining the Chapel Community Speed Watch Scheme is asked to contact PC Crosthwaite or PCSO Green on 101.

Alternatively, email the team at: chapel.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk
