Police appeal following catalytic convertor thefts in Buxton and Chapel

Police are appealing for information following theft from two vehicles in Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Thieves stole an exhaust pipe and a catalytic convertor from a van that was parked on the driveway of a property along Macclesfield Old Road in Buxton. A side window of the vehicle was also smashed by offenders; however no further valuables were stolen.

The incidents took place sometime overnight between 9pm on Saturday, May 30 and 8.30am on Sunday, May 31. (CR/22735/15)

On the same night, a catalytic converter was also stolen from a silver coloured Mercedes van that was parked along Eccles Fold in Chapel-en-le-Frith. This is believed to have taken place between 5.30pm on Saturday, May 30 to 7.40am on Sunday, May 31. (CR/22734/15)

Following these incidents, motorists are being encouraged to park in well-lit, overlooked areas where possible and ensure that alarm systems are activated before leaving their vehicle unattended.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and to report anyone acting suspiciously, especially around commercial vehicles, to police without delay.
