The Gamesley and St Johns Safer Neighbourhood Team have been taking to the road to carry out checks and put the brakes on speeding motorists in the area.
Safer Neighbourhood officers teamed up throughout the day on Thursday, June 11 to monitor the speed of motorists on roads through Charlesworth and Chisworth.
Following the checks, officers issued two Fixed Penalty Notice's to motorists for breaking the law and driving over the 30mph speed limit.
A further two motorists were also spoken to about the importance of safe and considerate driving and abiding by the speed limit on the roads.
Sergeant Phil Booth from the Gamesley and St Johns Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "Speed really does kill. Modern cars are so comfortable and quiet we often forget they are over a ton of metal. Driven over 30mph in a residential area they become a lethal weapon.
"Having spent a large proportion of my service investigating fatal collisions, and seeing the aftermath of cars hitting pedestrians, I have witnessed the severe consequences speeding can have.
"We will continue to carry out speed enforcement in the area to make our roads safer for all road users and pedestrians."
Speeding traffic is currently a policing priority for the Safer Neighbourhood team which sees the officers carrying out regular enforcement checks and speaking to motorists about the dangers of speeding.
