Posted on 4th March 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attempted theft of a vehicle in Glossop.

At around 00.50am on Thursday, February 27, an offender gained entry to a vehicle parked outside a property on High Street East, Glossop.

The offender was seen to be sat inside the green Land Rover Defender before running off in the direction of Sheffield Road.

Police are urging Land Rover owners to increase the security of their vehicles by taking steps such as parking in a well-lit area or in a secure garage, where possible.

Motorists are also being advised to consider investing in vehicle security to help to deter a criminal from targeting their vehicle.

This includes purchasing a steering wheel lock, wheel clamps or property marking kits such as Selecta DNA or SmartWater.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
