Residents in the Glossop area are invited to protect their property from thieves at an upcoming event in the town.

The team will be working in partnership with Halfords to host the free crime prevention and property marking event at the store on Wrens Nest Retail Park in Glossop. This will take place between 12noon and 4pm on Saturday, January 21.

During the afternoon, the policing team will be on hand to property mark valuables such as bikes, laptops and phones, along with offering advice on how people can boost the security of their homes, vehicles, sheds and garages.

Motorists can also have anti-theft number plate screws fitted for free to help make it difficult for thieves to steal them.

PC Jenny Oldfield from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood team said: “Events like this are a great opportunity for us to head out into the community and chat to residents about the steps that they can take to extra protect themselves from would-be-thieves.

“Many people may have had new property such as bikes, mobile phones, and tablets for Christmas and we can help you to make them much less attractive to a potential thief. We look forward to seeing you there on Saturday 21st January.”
