Our Police Cadets have been helping local officers in Glossop by taking part in pre-Christmas vehicle security checks and a property marking event.
They gave up their time to work with the Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team on Sunday, December 17 as they held a free crime prevention event at Halfords, on Wrens Nest Mill, and also Tesco.
As well as helping to mark valuables, they also carried out patrols of the nearby area to check vehicle security, and found nine cars which had been left with items on show such as coats, bags, handbags, purses, electronic items and keys.
The drivers were then made aware of the increased risk of their vehicle being broken into if valuables can be seen by passers-by.
PCSO Alan Nield is one of our Police Cadet leaders in the High Peak. He said: “Five of our cadets and two of our Police Support Volunteer Leaders turned out to help at this security event during some atrocious weather, and we are very grateful for their time and commitment to helping the community stay safe and secure.
“Despite the cold and wet weather we were very impressed that they continued on and even managed to smile through.”
