Priority

Preventing burglaries across the High Peak

Issue Date:
Issue was set on 24/03/2016
Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Safer Neighbourhood officers carried out both high-visibility and covert patrols in the area to deter criminals and catch any offenders in the act.
  • The policing team carried out regular stop checks to ensure that any potential thieves are stopped before a crime is committed;
  • Officers advised residents about the extra steps that they can take to better protect their property from thieves. This includes storing valuables out of sight, making sure windows and doors are locked, keeping keys out of sight and investing in security kit such as SmartWater, alarms, door chimes and timer switches.
  • Homeowners urged to register valuables with www.immobilise.com – This helps police to trace the owners of recovered stolen goods.
  • Residents urged to report suspicious activity to police on 101. Always dial 999 if a crime is in action.

I am Sergeant 2323 Nicola Bateman and I have responsibility for the Safer Neighbourhood teams in Gamesley and St Johns, Glossop Town Centre, Hadfield and Tintwistle, and New Mills and Hayfield.

I have been a police officer for 16 years and have spent the majority of my service as a uniformed response officer working across the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales.

I am looking forward to working with the already well-established members of the High Peak Safer Neighbourhood Team to help improve and enhance the quality of life for local residents.

I am particularly interested in working closely with our partners to help tackle neighbourhood issues and make our communities safer places to live, work and visit.
