Officers hosted a similar property marking day in Buxton
Tradesmen and van owners are being encouraged to have their tools property marked for free at an event in Hadfield next week.
Officers from the Hadfield and Tintwistle Safer Neighbourhood Team will be joined by the Glossop Town Centre team to help motorists to boost security and better protect themselves from thieves.
Over recent months we have received reports of thieves breaking into vans, particularly trades vehicles, across the High Peak to steal power tools.
A new operation, Operation Everman, is set to crack down on this by targeting offenders and stopping criminals in their tracks.
Safer Neighbourhood officers in Hadfield and Glossop are supporting the operation by hosting a crime prevention day and free security marking.
The team will be visiting Markovitz Builders & Plumbers Merchants on Park Road in Hadfield on Monday, February 13. They will be on hand between 9am and 1pm to security mark tools and offer advice to tradesmen.
Marking items with security kits help to make them less attractive to would-be thieves, and can improve the chances of police returning any items if they are stolen and later recovered.
For more information about the event call the Hadfield Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.
