Nursery children learn about road safety from Safer Neighbourhood Team

Posted on 1st May 2013

Children at New Mills Nursery school learned about road safety during a visit from a local PCSO – and got the chance to try on some of his kit.

PCSO Will Brockett, from New Mills Safer Neighbourhood Team, visited the nursery to talk to the children about their community.

He taught them about how to cross the road safely and what dangers to look out for.

Some of the youngsters also tried on some of his police gear during the visit, which was organised by Will and the nursery’s head teacher, Claire Inman.

PCSO Brockett said: “It was a really fun visit and the children all seemed to take a lot away from it about important things like being careful when close to roads.

“These kinds of visits are always good because it means the children know who we are and what work the Safer Neighbourhood Team are involved in.

“It was informative and fun for them – and of course they enjoyed trying on a police helmet and jacket!”
