Police appeal following New Mills vehicle damage

Police investigating damage to a vehicle in New Mills are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Vandals used a sharp instrument to scratch along the passenger side of a red Fiat Punto that was parked along New Street, New Mills, causing damage to the paintwork.

The incident is believed to have taken place sometime between 6.30pm on Monday, April 27 and 8.10am on Tuesday, April 28.

Police have since received a further report that the same vehicle was targeted overnight between Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30. The paintwork on the driver's side of the vehicle was damaged in the same manner.

PCSO Lee Baker from the New Mills and Hayfield Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "We are urging anyone with any information about the damage to contact us so that we can bring those responsible to justice.

"We are also asking residents to be vigilant and if they see anything suspicious in their neighbourhood to contact police straight away so that we can help to stop a crime from taking place."
