Officers from the New Mills and Hayfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to update local residents with recent work they have been doing in the area.
Following reports of groups of youngsters visiting New Mils from neighbouring areas, our officers have been working with other police forces in an attempt to identify anyone who may be causing issues within our community.
We have visited the local schools to gather information, and to offer support and advice to those who may have been affected by the reported incidents.
Patrols have been increased and other agencies informed and asked to support the community on tackling this issue.
The community events, including the community bonfire, have been well attended and there were no reports of disorder.
Members of the public are being encouraged in calling police or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously rather than commenting on social media if they witness or have any information that may help the team target these issues
New Mills is still one of the safest areas in Derbyshire to live and work and with everyone’s help and support we can keep it that way.
The patrols will be continuing to offer reassurance to the community we would also like to remind parents to be aware that there are still large numbers of young people congregating in New Mills in the late evening, causing nuisance to local residents. Do you know where your child is?
