Chesterfield and NE Licensing training- Dec 16
Bar workers from the Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire have been studying for a qualification in responsible alcohol sales as part of the Intoxicated campaign.
Intoxicated is run by Derbyshire police, Chesterfield Borough Council and North East Derbyshire District Council and aims to crack down on alcohol-related offences by raising awareness of the law around the sale of alcohol to people who have already had too much.
Staff from The Arkwright Centre, Groove and The Beach attended sessions this week at Chesterfield Town Hall on Wednesday, December 7 and at The Arkwright Centre on Thursday, December 8.
The training, which was carried out by Remscott Training and Development and officers from the areas licensing team, pub, club and bar workers studying for a Level 1 Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing (ARAR).
The training touched on a wide variety of topics including how to recognise drunkenness, licensing law, checking identifications, personal safety and how pubs, clubs and bars can help cut alcohol-related crimes.
Sgt. Nick Booth of the North Division Licencing Team said: “The aim behind Intoxicated is to make people aware of the law and also about protecting the general public, to ensure they can go to a pub and be safe.
“The campaign has been running in Derbyshire for four years now, providing support and training to local pubs, clubs and off-licences which is a vital part of our work.”
Sgt. Booth added: “We hope that by increasing knowledge and awareness of responsible alcohol sales and supporting licensees we will also have a positive impact within our communities, helping to reduce and prevent incidents of alcohol related anti-social behaviour and disorder which can be related to the night-time economy.”
