Tickets issued to speeding drivers in Pilsley and Morton

Posted on 7th May 2015

Officers in Pilsley and Morton have issued speeding tickets to drivers travelling at more than 40 miles per hour (mph) in 30mph zones.

PC Dave Price and PCSOs Kate Hodnett and Gary Green from the North Wingfield, Pilsley, Stonebroom and Shirland Safer Neighbourhood Team conducted speed checks on Thursday, April 30 in response to community concerns.

The team issued a ticket to one motorist travelling at 42mph and three drivers were advised for speeds of between 35 and 39mph during checks on Parkhouse Road, Pilsley.

Officers then moved to Station Road in Morton where one driver was issued with a ticket for a speed of 45mph.

One of the team’s current policing priorities is vehicle speed reduction through Stonebroom, Shirland, Morton, Wessington and Pilsley, after the issue was raised as a concern by local residents at a community panel meeting.

Officers are working to tackle this issue by speaking to and educating motorists through local Speed Watch schemes; carrying out enforcements in spot checks and working alongside the Casualty Reduction and Enforcement Support Team (CREST) in operations around safe driving.
