A new police officer has become the latest face on the streets of Shirebrook and surrounding areas.

PC Amanda O’Brien has worked for Derbyshire Constabulary since 2005, and joins the team having worked as part of the response teams in Dronfield and Bolsover.

Amanda’s previous roles have involved working on impact and proactive policing, carrying out drug warrants and targeting prolific offenders.

Since starting on the team, PC O’Brien has been busy getting out on patrol, meeting local residents and working with her colleagues to target community issues.

PC Amanda O’Brien from the Shirebrook Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I am already aware of some of the issues affecting Shirebrook and the surrounding areas from my previous role.

“Since joining the team, I have spent part of my time focusing on tackling problems in the Langwith area, particularly around anti-social behaviour, and I will be working closely with my colleagues to challenge these issues and those responsible.

“I look forward to heading out over the coming weeks to meet more members of the community and listen to any neighbourhood concerns that they may have.”

The Shirebrook Safer Neighbourhood Team is made up of Sergeant Sarah Barraclough, PC Kat Newton-Jones, PC Amanda O’Brien, PCSO Steve Cathcart and PCSO Matthew Liddy.

To speak to the policing team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
