Man charged in connection with Shirebrook arson attacks

A 35-year-old man has recently been charged in connection with two arson attacks at shops in Shirebrook.

At around 10.30pm on Friday, February 27, a bin belonging to the Aldi supermarket on Carter Lane in Shirebrook caught fire, causing damage to the container and to the store’s delivery entrance.

A wheelie bin belonging to a charity shop on Market Street, Mansfield was also allegedly set on fire, sometime between 4pm on Sunday, August 17 and 8am on Monday, August 18 2014.

Wayne Stewart Kirk (35) of Langwith Road, Mansfield, has been charged with arson in connection with the incidents.

He is due to appear at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 21.
