Police appeal following attempted robbery on Alvaston street

Police are appealing for information following an alleged attempted robbery in Alvaston.

At around 6pm on Friday, December 9, a 58-year-old woman was sat at the bus stop outside of the Post Office on London Road, Alvaston, when a man grabbed her handbag and tried to pull it from her.

The woman fell to the floor and was dragged along the pavement.

A man who was passing by intervened and shouted to the offender who ran off empty handed across London Road, towards the Blue Peter Pub.

The offender was described as a white man, aged between 16 to 19-years-old, and around 5ft 6ins tall. He wore a grey zip up hooded top with the hood up, and blue tracksuit bottoms with a grey stripe down each leg. He had blonde curly hair under the hood.
