Officers from the Alvaston Safer Neighbourhood Team are inviting residents to join them for a tea or coffee to discuss policing issues.

The team is holding a series of ‘street-meets’ on the run up to Christmas at the Mad Hatters Tea Room, Alvaston Park and is inviting local residents to pop along and discuss any issues that they feel are affecting their community.

Sgt Graham Young, who is in charge of the team, explained: “The team are always out and about in Alvaston and meet and talk to a lot of people. On this occasion we thought that being in a set place and time on the patch and in a more informal setting, people could come along and have a chat with the team about any particular policing issue they may have.

“At this time of year it may also be a good time to think about your neighbours who live alone and may be lonely. This would be a good opportunity to let them know about this event or perhaps even bring them along and we can make sure that they get advice and help to make them feel safe and secure.”

The team will be at the tea rooms on:

Thursday, December 8, between 12 midday and 2pm

Friday, December 16, between 11am and 1pm

Wednesday, December 21, between 12 midday and 2pm.
