The residents of Alvaston, Derby have a new police officer on their beat.

PC Leah Church joined our Alvaston Safer Neighbourhood Team last week on Tuesday, March 7.

Leah has been a police officer for nearly 4 years, having previously worked as a reactive officer in Swadlincote and more recently covering an area that also included Alvaston.

PC Church said: “I am really pleased to have been given the opportunity to work as a Safer Neighbourhood officer. It is something I chose to do and I know the area because as well as working as a reactive officer in Alvaston I have also lived there.

“The thing that attracts me to this role is that I can now focus on solving problems that people may be experiencing rather than as a reactive officer where you tend to be going from job to job ‘picking up the pieces’.

“I have enjoyed my first week and now hope to get out and about in the community meeting more people. We have access to police push bikes and I will be out on those so I can cover as much of the patch as possible.”

Anyone who would like to contact Leah or the team can do so by calling 101 or send them a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website here.
