We have arrested a man today on suspicion of drugs offences after officers from our Alvaston Safer Neighbourhood Team executed a search warrant at a house in the suburb of Derby.
The team carried out a search today, Thursday, February 2 under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a house in Westminster Street and recovered a quantity of cash and what is believed to be amphetamine.
The 50 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply and taken to St Mary’s Wharf Police Station, where he is currently being questioned.
Sergeant Graham Young, who is in charge of the team, said: “The action was taken because of intelligence received from the community for which we are grateful. We are very aware that this type of behaviour can have a detrimental effect on communities and we will always endeavour to act when we receive such information.
“We have been visiting other local properties and letting people know what we have been doing at the address to re-assure them of the positive action we have taken. We would urge anyone with further similar information to contact us.”
