Officers from our Alvaston Safer Neighbourhood Team have charged a man with drug dealing after a search at a house yesterday.
The team carried out the search yesterday, Wednesday, March 29 on Westminster Street, Alvaston, using powers under the Misuse of Drugs Act. As a result they seized what is believed to be amphetamine, cannabis and a quantity of cash.
David Mitchell, 51-years-old, was arrested at the house and was later charged with the offence of Possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.
Today, Thursday, March 30, Mitchell appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates's Court where he was remanded in custody to appear at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, April 27.
Sergeant Graham Young, who was in charge of the search, said: “ This shows that we will continue to act on community intelligence about this type of alleged activity that has an adverse effect on the surrounding community.”
