A car parked in an Alvaston street was left damaged after a large amount of paint was smeared over it.
Between 10pm on Saturday, November 5 and 11am on Sunday, November 6 a red Renault Grand Scenic Megane was parked on Castle Croft in Alvaston when it had what appeared to be grey undercoat paint daubed on it.
PSCO Tom Langley, from Boulton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said the offender may have returned with paint marks on his skin or clothing.
He said: “Whoever caused this damage has gone to some effort to do so as it appears that the paint has been brushed on to the car rather than just thrown.
“Someone may well have come home that night with grey paint on their clothes and hands and I would urge anyone who noticed something like that to get in touch.
“The paint has caused damage to the car that now needs to be repaired and so we would ask that if anyone knows anything about this incident that they make contact with us.”
