Chellaston residents invited to the pub for a free 'Brew with the Beat Team'

Residents in Chellaston are being invited to the pub for a free drink by the Chellaston Safer Neighbourhood Team and the kids don’t miss out as they get a free go in the soft play.

The offer is being made along with the management at the Bonnie Prince pub and restaurant in the village but despite the location, the offer only extends to tea and coffee, along with biscuits of course.

The event, being held on Friday, December 9, is part of a series of ‘street-meets’ being held by the team to encourage residents to come and talk to them about policing in the village.

PCSO Steph Holt from the team explains: “We like to be as visible as possible in the village, however it is difficult to see and be seen by everyone. This gives us the opportunity to be in a set place at a set time so if anyone would like to have a chat with us about any concerns they have in the village they can do so in a relaxed atmosphere.

“The Bonnie Prince have been great to allow us to use their restaurant and as a result of this we can offer anyone who comes to speak to us a free drink and biscuits. They have also said that if any parents come with their children then they can go and play in the soft play for free.

“Whilst I know it’s nearly Christmas the drinks will only be tea and coffee though.”

Julie Butler is the Joint General Manager at the Bonnie Prince and said: “We see ourselves as a part of the community here at the Bonnie Prince and so we were only too pleased to help the Safer Neighbourhood team by allowing them to use the space here.

“We can offer a quieter section if anyone would like to speak to the team in confidence and if parents are coming to speak to the officers and have younger children I am more than happy for the children to use the Soft Play free of charge.”

The team will be at the Bonnie Prince, Swarkestone Road, Chellaston between 9.30am and 11.30am.
