Local tradespeople invited to free tool marking event in Allenton

Posted on 16th July 2014

Traders and individuals who use a vehicle to carry their tools are being invited to a free tool and property marking event taking place this week.

The initiative is in response to a number of thefts across the area where mainly vehicles are being broken into and items such as work tools and equipment are being taken.

Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team are taking a preventative approach and will be sited at the trade counter at the B&Q store on Osmaston Park Road, Allenton on Friday, July 18 between 10.00 – 3.00pm.

Sergeant Simon Hawley, manager of the Allenton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said:” Businesses and tradespersons such as electricians and plumbers who use their vehicle to transport tools and equipment are invited to come along and security mark their property free of charge.

“It does not stop items being stolen but it does increase the chances of it being returned to its rightful owner if it is taken and later recovered by police.

“We will also be offering crime prevention advice and are happy to discuss any other concerns of a local policing nature.”
