VW theft

One of our officers has released dash cam footage after seven VW vehicles were broken-in to on one night.

The thefts happened in the Pride Park/Ascot Drive area of Derby, on the evening of Friday, May 11, the night of Derby County’s 1st leg of the EFL Championship semi-final v Fulham.

All of the vehicles attacked had the entertainment system stolen from the dashboards.

Sergeant Matt O’Neil is in charge of the Safer Neighbourhood policing unit that covers the area, he said: “We would like to speak to the person caught in the footage about the thefts that evening.

“I realise that the person has a hood up and his full face is not caught, however I am hoping that someone may recognise a certain feature or the clothing.

“The victims were considerably inconvenienced by the crimes and although insured, will still be out of pocket in order to replace and repair the damage.

“I would therefore urge anyone who knows anything about the incidents or recognises the person in the footage to speak to us”
