Our officers from two local Safer Neighbourhood teams have set up summer sports camps for city youngsters.

The two camps, offering football and rounders, are being run on a turn-up on the day basis and are free to children between the ages of 7 and 12 years.

The Sinfin and Osmaston team are running a football event on Cotton Lane, Osmaston, between 10am and 12 midday every Tuesday, starting today, August 1 until Tuesday, August 29.

The Chellaston and Shelton Lock Team are running a rounders event at Shelton Lock Primary School, between 10am and 12 midday every Thursday starting this week until Thursday, August 31.

Inspector Greg Hunt, who is in charge of policing for the area, said “The teams have set up the activities to allow youngsters the opportunity to take part in some exercise, engage with their local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams, encourage teamwork and develop social skills through sport.

“Anyone interested in taking part can just turn up and they will be welcomed by my officers.”
