Our officers from the Sinfin and Osmaston Safer Neighbourhood Team in Allenton, Derby have been back to school celebrating a community champion scheme.
The officers have been working with teachers and staff at Osmaston Primary School in Amber Street on the project, which aims at promoting good behaviour, raising self-esteem and encourages pupils to work towards making a positive difference within their community and school.
On Friday, May, 27 the participants came together at a special assembly in the school to celebrate the children’s work, with pupils performing a dance routine that they had been practicing, as well as presenting tins of food that they had donated to a local food bank.
PCSO Rob Webb, from the team, said “We were only too pleased to be involved with the scheme which really encourages good behaviour for the children. It also gave us the opportunity to address the issues of bullying and discrimination.”
Mrs Davies, one of the Year 5 teachers at the school, said: “ I am extremely proud of our Lynx class who have worked tirelessly to improve and help our local community.
“We are grateful to PCSO Webb for asking us to participate in this ‘Community Champion’ project. It has been a valuable experience.”
