Our officers from the Allestree Safer Neighbourhood Team have seized and destroyed a mini-moped.
The action was taken after they responded to a call from a member of the public last week, at around 4pm on Monday, September 18. The caller was complaining about anti-social behaviour from a group of youths riding up and down Beaureper Avenue in the village.
Responding to the call, members of the team spoke to a 17 year-old young man who was pushing the pictured bike along Clifton Road. Strong advice was given to him and, with his parents agreement, the bike was seized and will be destroyed.
PCSO Ibrar Rafique, from the team, said: “The action taken shows that we will respond to reports of anti-social behaviour and react positively when we are able.”
“We have the power to seize and destroy such vehicles if they are being used in an anti-social manner or not in accordance with the road traffic act but in this case this action was taken with the agreement of the bike owner and after advice was given to the young man.”
