Markeaton Rec in Derby where some of the stolen motorbikes have been abandoned
Officers from our Allestree and Darley Safer Neighbourhood Team are appealing for residents in two areas of Derby to check their CCTV and dashcam footage.
The appeal is aimed at residents of Allestree and the West End after a number of motorcycle thefts have resulted in the bikes being brazenly ridden around the area causing anti-social behaviour.
Sergeant Keith Chambers, who is in charge of the team, said: “We are taking reports of thefts of motorbikes in the area that are then being ridden around by riders wearing no helmets and in an anti-social manner.
“They are not hiding the fact that the bikes are stolen as the number plates are kept on.
“We would ask that if any residents have footage of this happening either on their CCTV or dashcam that they make contact with us so we can try and identify the offenders.
“In the meantime we are increasing patrols in the affected areas and would appeal to motorbike owners to make sure that when their bikes are left unattended that they are secured using a high quality lock.”
