The Safer Neighbourhood teams covering the Mackworth, Morley, Allestree and Darley areas of Derby have a new Sergeant in charge.
Gemma Thursfield, who has been a police officer for 15 years has joined the teams this week on Monday, October 15.
Gemma has had plenty of experience in Safer Neighbourhood policing as she worked as a PC in both the Melbourne and Chaddesden teams previously.
Speaking of her new appointment, she said: “I am really looking forward to my new role. I have always believed that, whilst policing is now about dealing with a wide range of crimes and issues, Safer Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of what we do.
“We need the public to help us address the issues that are affecting them and so I am keen to listen to what those problems are and work with them and our partners to resolve them.
“The teams I am in charge of cover different areas of the city with different issues but I know that they are hard-working and I am looking forward to working with them.”
