Derbyshire police offer further bike marking event at University of Derby

Allestree bike marking

Due to the success of last month’s event, our Allestree Safer Neighbourhood Team is offering a further bike marking opportunity at the University of Derby.

The team will be at the university’s Kedleston Road site tomorrow, Wednesday, December 5.

The scheme works by marking the bike with a unique code linked to the owner’s details on a secure database. If their cycle is stolen and subsequently found, we can use this code to ensure the bike is returned to its rightful owner.

The marking by is usually £12 but is completed free by the team.

PCSO Ibrar Rafique (pictured), one of the officers on the team, said: “Last month’s event was well attended by students and residents alike and so we worked with the university to arrange another.”

The team will be in the atrium between 9.15am and 3.30pm. Anyone attending to have their cycle marked should bring with them some form of identification.
