CCTV image released of man police want to trace in connection with handbag theft

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the theft of a handbag in Allestree.CCTV-still-handbag-theft

At around 2.40pm on Friday, June 27, a woman had her handbag taken from a trolley she was using at Park Farm shops in Allestree.

The victim took the trolley into a bay in the main car park and left her bag in the trolley for a short time when a man was seen to take the bag.

From CCTV the suspect was seen to go into the Co-op supermarket at Park Farm with the bag.

The bag is described as a black leather shoulder bag, with two straps at the back, a zip on the outside and two pockets inside.  It contained a large amount of cash and personal valuables.

The man is described as white with grey, balding hair and wearing a white shirt under a light coloured jumper and black trousers.  He is approximately 50 to 55 years of age and is believed to drive a silver Renault Megane.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the image to help with their investigation.
