Information appeal following burglary in Allestree

Posted on 1st December 2014

Police are appealing for information following a burglary in Allestree.

On Thursday, November 27 between 8.30am and 3pm a house on Allestree Lane was broken into, a rear, ground floor window was forced and jewellery, bags, video equipment, toys and passports was stolen.

Officers would like to speak to anyone that may have witnessed suspicious activity in this area or has knowledge of the items stolen.

In response to the burglary, officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team have issued over 200 leaflets to homes in the area to advise on security measures like making sure all windows and doors are secure, items of value are kept out of sight and ensuring that burglar alarm systems are used and maintained.

PC Janagal from the neighbourhood team said:” It may be that some people think a burglary will not happen to them but it is an opportunist act, a thief will not be deterred from stealing items that they can use or sell if the circumstances are in their favour.

“We appeal to the community to take whatever measures are required to ensure your home and property is secure, especially in the run up to Christmas when people are gathering presents which can be of significant value.

“If you witness any suspicious behaviour or vehicles please contact our team and report what you see.”

Anyone with information in relation to this crime is asked to contact PC Janagal on 101 quoting crime reference 50251/14.

To report crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
