Special Constables volunteer time to help target speeding in Allestree

Special Constables in D Division have been working closely with local officers to target speeding in Derby.

The volunteer police constables worked closely with officers from the Casualty Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) and members of the Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team in Allestree.

The team carried out the operation at both Birchover Way and Kedleston Road on Sunday, December 14 between 1.00pm and 6.00pm, the locations were the subject of the team’s efforts to tackle speeding complaints.   

Overall 13 traffic offence reports were handed out to motorists exceeding the speed limit of 30mph.

Sergeant Mark Preston of the Allestree and Darley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said:” Both stretches of road have been drawn to our attention by local residents reporting to us the issue of speeding motorists.

“We will be monitoring the problem and where possible raise awareness and warn motorists of the speed restrictions in both of these areas, positive action will be taken if required.

“We want to pay a personal thank you to our Special Constables who volunteered their time to assist us with this speeding operation and are looking to support us with further operations down the line.”

A Traffic Offence Report is a report submitted for intended prosecution of a driver for speeding, they are submitted on 30mph roads when the motorist is in excess of 30mph.
