Our officers from the Derby City Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team have been helping a Derby Sikh community group keep shoppers cool.

The action came last weekend on Saturday, June 17, when officers helped members of the Sikh Temple on St Thomas’s Road to give out bottles of water to shoppers in the Cornmarket, Derby.

PCSO Bakhtawar Rana is a member of the policing team and said: “The group were performing ‘Sewa’, which is an important aspect of Sikhism to provide a service to the community.

“As a Sikh myself it was really good to be involved and at the same time be able to give members of the public information about our positive action and current recruitment opportunities.”
