We have arrested three people this morning after a joint plain-clothed and uniform, drug stop and search operation.

The arrests were made on Beckett Street in the city after the City Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team received community intelligence about drug taking in the area.

A 36 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class B drug after a substance was found during the searches.

Two other men, aged 28 and 42 were arrested having been found to be wanted on suspicion of commiting separate offences of indecent exposure and burglary. All three were taken to St Mary’s Wharf Police Station for questioning.

Sergeant Becky Webster, who is in charge of the team, said: “This action shows that we listen to the concerns of the community and those using the city centre and will not tolerate suspected illegal activities.

“Whenever we receive such intelligence we will act on it positively and make arrests where appropriate.”
