Our officers from the Derby City Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team have joined celebrations to mark the Windrush landing.
The team were asked to join the service and parade held at Holy Trinity Church, London Road, Derby last Friday, June 22.
PCSO Bakhtawar Rana, who was joined by his colleagues Malachi Lowe and Dawn Sheils-Houston, said: “We were asked if we wanted to take part in the service and parade to mark the 70-year anniversary of the arrival of the Windrush migrants and it was a privilege to accept.”
The Empire Windrush was a ship that docked in Tilbury on June 22, 1948, bringing migrants from the Caribbean to work in the UK.
