Speeding drivers warned by police during road safety checks

Posted on 7th February 2014

Motorists were stopped by police and given words of advice about their speed as part of an ongoing road safety drive.

Officers from Derwent Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out a speed check in Hampshire Road after complaints about drivers from concerned local residents.

The checks, which took place between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Thursday, February 6, saw 267 vehicles clocked.

The majority of drivers were under the 30mph limit, with the lowest recorded at 14mph and the highest at 43mph.

Anyone caught speeding had their details taken and were warned not to break the speed limit in future. Further action could also be taken against motorists driving at excessive speeds.

Further speed checks will be carried out on roads across the area by police from the Derwent team.
