Area covered by the Dispersal Order
Officers from the Derwent and Oakwood Safer Neighbourhood Team have placed a dispersal order on an area around Sussex Circus in the Derwent ward of Derby.
The move comes after a series of incidents yesterday evening (Monday, August 6), involving a group of around 20 young people.
The team attended the area after reports of the group causing anti-social behaviour, fighting, trying to light fires and threatening shopkeepers.
Two people were arrested, a 14-year-old boy from Oakwood and a 15-year-old girl from Chaddesden, on suspicion of committing a public order offence.
Mark Atterbury, from the team, said: “This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“Two young people were arrested and their situation will now be reviewed by the Youth Offending Team in terms of further action being taken against them.
“We will have extra patrols in the area and in the meantime are investigating last night’s incidents to make further arrests.”
The dispersal order is now in place for the immediate area around Sussex Circus, which means officers can direct people to leave the area if they believe they are there to cause anti-social behaviour, failing to comply would lead to arrest.
