Officers from the Abbey Safer Neighbourhood Team in Derby are inviting residents to a ‘street meet’ in the local park.

The team are holding the event with Councillor Asif Afzal in the Stockbrook area of the city on Friday, December 9 and are inviting local residents to come and have a chat with them to discuss any issues that they feel are affecting their community.

PC Steve Phillips from the team explained: “The meeting follows a similar event we held back in August which was very successful.

“Although we are always out and about in the community we have found it useful at times to let people know that we will be in a certain place at a certain time so people can come along and have a chat if they have any concerns about what is going on in their neighbourhood.

“Back in August we were able to hold the street meet outside, I am not sure that would be such a good idea on a cold December evening so thankfully the community centre have opened their doors for us.”

The team will be in the Bramblebrook Community Centre,  Stockbrook Park, Stockbrook Street, Derby between 6pm and 8pm.
