Our officers from Littleover and Blagreaves Safer Neighbourhood Team have been back to school to talk about the role of a police officer.

The team have been visiting Ridgeway Infant School to talk to the reception class about what the police do and how they can help if the children find themselves in trouble.

PCSO Rachel Reid from the team said: “It is important for us to speak to the children at this age to let them know what we do as a police service. We do not want them to be scared of us and need to let them know that we are here to help them if they need us and also why it is important to be able to speak to us should we need help when they are older.”

Miss Halford, reception class teacher at the school, said: “The children really loved the visit from the police, I have even had some of the children dressing up as police officers after the visit, putting mobile phones down their high-viz vests, copying the radio that PCSO Rachel Reid was wearing."
