Police appeal for witnesses as Member of Staff is assaulted outside a Derby School

Posted on 6th March 2017

Our officers from the Littleover Safer Neighbourhood Team are appealing for witnesses after a member of staff from Littleover Community School was assaulted outside the school gates.

The incident happened at about 3.20pm on Friday, March 3 when the member of staff was outside the gates of the school on Pastures Hill, Littleover Derby.

He was punched to the side of the face and neck and pushed to the ground before then giving chase to the suspect.

A 15 year-old youth from Derby has been arrested and will be interviewed.

PC Jonathon Joyce from the team said: “Although the injuries suffered are relatively minor we treat this type of incident very seriously. A local boy has been arrested and will be interviewed, however we would ask that anyone who witnessed the incident make contact with me or the team.

“We are talking to the pupils in this and other local schools and providing additional high visibility patrols in the area, including local parks, to re-assure residents and pupils whilst the circumstances of the assault continue to be investigated.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact PC Jonathon Joyce by calling 101 quoting reference number 17000092004. Alternatively send him a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website here.
