Our officers from the Littleover and Blagreaves Safer Neighbourhood Team are joining forces with volunteers to offer residents crime prevention advice.

The event is happening tomorrow, Wednesday, April 11 at various locations across the area.

Officers and Police Service Volunteers (PSVs) will be out and about with the mobile police station offering crime prevention advice and a chance to discuss any concerns residents may have.

The move follows a recent increase in house burglaries in the area.

Sergeant Alex Wood, who is in charge of the team, said: “Due to the measures we have put in place the number of burglaries has decreased, however that does not mean that we should be complacent.

“Our aim is to provide the local residents with some crime prevention tips and re-assurance.

“We will have a member of the team in the mobile police station throughout the day and other officers patrolling the surrounding streets.

“We are visiting these different locations in order to be as accessible to members of the community as possible. Please come and speak with us about the issues affecting you or your area.”

The team will be at the following locations:

Littleover Lane       between  11am and 1.20pm

Sunnyhill Avenue   between 1.30pm and 4pm

Carlisle Avenue      between   4.10pm and 7pm.
