Crime prevention surgeries for Littleover residents

Posted on 26th September 2011

Officers from Littleover Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team are running two crime prevention surgeries in response to the new current priority for the neighbourhood.

At the recent Littleover forum meeting held earlier this month the current priority highlighted by local residents was dwelling burglaries.

PCSO Rob Palfreyman from the Littleover team said: "The majority of the break-ins have taken place in the daytime between midday and 5.00pm.

"In most cases the offenders have targeted properties where no-one is at home but on a few occasions distraction methods have been used with householders in order to trick their way into the property.

"We have stepped up patrols and several persons have been arrested and charged to court but we would still ask that people activate alarms, lock doors and windows and ask strangers for identification.

"We also encourage you to attend one of our surgeries for further advice if you have any concerns."

The team will be holding two drop in surgeries at Littleover Police Station, Melton Avenue on Thursday 6 and Monday 10 of October between 6.00 - 8.00pm.

No appointment is necessary.
