The Abbey, Littleover and Mickleover Safer Neighbourhood Teams in Derby have a new sergeant in charge.

Sergeant Alex Wood started his new role last week on Monday, April 3 and will be in charge of the Safer Neighbourhood teams that cover the Stockbrook, Littleover and Mickleover areas to the west of Derby.

Alex has been a police officer for 10 years and started as a constable policing these same areas. He has also worked in Long Eaton and spent some time in a plain-clothed crime action group. He was promoted to Sergeant more than two years ago and has been supervising the response policing team covering the south of the county.

Sergeant Wood said about his latest move: “Having started my career in this area I am passionate about its policing. I believe that officers with local knowledge who work closely with the community can really make a difference.

“I am keen to make sure we are a visible presence in the area and would encourage residents to provide us with information about the issues affecting them and the neighbourhood.”
