Our Inspector in charge of policing in Mickleover has offered some advice to residents after a number of break-ins to vehicles over the last month.

Inspector Ranjit Dol has spoken after ten vehicles have been attacked in the last few weeks.

Ranjit said: “We have picked up on this latest pattern of offending and have increased our patrols in the area at the relevant times, overnight and in the early evening. The patrols have been a mixture of high visibility and plain-clothed to both deter and in an attempt to catch the offenders.

“What I would ask residents to do is take some simple steps to help us help them in trying to prevent this type of crime by following some fairly simple crime prevention tips.”

The advice to help keep your vehicle safe is:

  • Secure your vehicle and do not leave windows open
  • Remove any valuables from the vehicle do not leave them on display
  • Park in busy well-lit areas, where possible
  • Consider fitting a vehicle alarm and immobiliser.
