Earlier this year we told you about how our officers had searched the Spice Fusion take-away shop on Stenson Road, Derby on Monday, March 27.

Last week, two men were charged with possession of a class A drug with intent to supply, in connection with this search.

Shakeel Atlaf, who is 30 years-old from Crewe Street, Derby and Raqib Ellahi, age 25 of Willn Street, Derby were both charged with the offence last Thursday, September 28 and will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 27.

Detective Sergeant Scott Mc Dermott, from our pro-active unit based at St Mary’s Wharf Police Station, said : “Although it has taken some time to gather the evidence required we are pleased that we have been able to charge these two men with the drug dealing related offences. They will now appear at court to answer these charges.

“The action taken shows that we will always take positive action when we receive information from the community regarding such illegal activities.”
