Officers from the Normanton and Peartree Safer Neighbourhood Team will be hitting the shops this Saturday (December, 10) to give shoppers and residents Christmas crime prevention advice.

They are holding a street meet on the Southgate Retail Park at the top of Normanton Road, Derby aimed at giving advice to shoppers about the particular risks of crime at this time of year.

PC Karen Stubbins from the team explained: “ We know that at this time of year people are busy buying presents for their families and loved ones. Unfortunately thieves can target this situation, so we will be out at the shopping centre giving shoppers and residents advice on how best to avoid becoming a victim of crime and ensure that the presents get to those they were intended for.

Officers will be at the centre between 10am and 5pm.
